It’s Love Parks Week 2023

Love Parks Week

Love Parks Week is back, giving people across the country the chance to shout about their wonderful green spaces.

Whether itโ€™s walking the dog, picnicking with friends, or pushing our little ones on a playground swing, our parks give our communities, our children, and our pets a vital space to play, grow, and bond.

Love Parks Week is set up to celebrate and support the efforts of volunteers and workers up and down the country to maintain and protect our green spaces.

Did you know that Lewisham has 15 nature parks and reserves, 5 Adventure Playgrounds and over 45 parks and green spaces for you to visit this Summer?

Ways to help keep your local green spaces, safe for you and healthy for all our wildlife

Take your litter home

Bins are often full or overflowing so if you’re going to the park for a picnic or to socialise with friends remember to bring an empty carrier or bin bag with you to take your rubbish home. Rubbish can also be harmful to wildlife so take it home and recycle it where you can.

Help with a local litter pick

Lots of local community groups are organising litter picks of local green spaces. If you can spare an hour or two why not get involved? It’s a great way for young children to learn about keeping their environment clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy.

Keep off the grass

We’re encouraged to keep certain areas in our green spaces clear from us humans to protect plants and wildlife. Remember to always read the signs at the green spaces you visit to make sure you are keeping wildlife safe.
